Celebrating the holidays with gratitude, joy, and advocacy 🐾

liz9573

We love this time of year. Christmas is a big day for office manager Maisey - she gets a lot of presents and loves to rip them right open. For all the pet owners who've lost a pet this year, it's a tough day. So those of you who still have your pet, make sure you love them up and have a great time with them.

For Boston Dog Lawyers, 2024 was our best year. Thanks to all the pet owners who've relied on us this year. And it's time to celebrate, because we did it. We are the ones that changed the law. We've changed the law for pet custody, so pet owners have rights now, which was our goal. And we've also changed the law in Massachusetts to regulate boarding facilities. We've been part of the coalition to regulate the people who care for our pets, and we're not done.

There's so much more to do, but so much of it comes from the energy and the needs of our clients.

Holiday Tips for Pet Owners

We know this time of year can be magical—and sometimes a bit hectic—so we’ve put together a few tips to ensure your pets enjoy the holidays as much as you do.

  1. Mind the Treats: Many holiday goodies are dangerous for pets. Keep chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free treats), and rich foods out of paw’s reach.

  2. Decorations and Safety: Be cautious with decorations like tinsel, ribbons, and string lights that pets might chew or swallow. Secure your Christmas tree to prevent curious paws from tipping it over.

  3. Stress-Free Zones: Holiday gatherings can be overwhelming for pets. Create a quiet, comfortable space where they can retreat if needed.

  4. Winter Walks: Protect sensitive paws from ice, salt, and cold temperatures with booties or pet-safe balms.

  5. Traveling with Pets: If your pet is joining you for holiday travel, ensure their ID tags are updated and you have copies of all their updated vaccination paperwork. And don’t forget to pack all their essentials, from food to favorite toys.

Thank you for being part of an incredible 2024 with Boston Dog Lawyers! As we celebrate the holidays and look forward to the year ahead, we’re reminded of the love and dedication pet owners like you bring to the table. Let’s continue to make a difference together.
